Michael D. Bates, PsyD

Dr. Bates is a licensed psychologist who has been working with children, families, adults, and couples for 11 years.  He specializes in helping people understand and move past worries and conflicts that hold individuals and families back from valuing themselves, being productive, happy, and having satisfying relationships.  He has successfully worked with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, school failure, family and relationship discord, peer conflict and bullying, and developmental issues at all phases of life –early childhood, tween, adolescence.

He deals with issues of puberty, identity formation, sexuality, career choices, and concerns unique to aging.  Dr. Bates has experience working with boys and men who have survived sexual abuse and the sensitive emotional life issues they face.  He has worked extensively with children who have a history of psychiatric inpatient and day treatment for emotional distress, suicidality, debilitating anxiety, and acting out.  Young adults who are trying to find direction and those of all ages suffering from grief and loss have been successful in therapy with Dr. Bates.

Dr. Bates has evening appointments available and can take private pay with a sliding scale, if desired.
