PSYCHIATRIST, MD
METABOLIC PSYCHIATRY · FOUNDER
Dr. Joanna Buck
MD · Board Certified Psychiatrist
Dr. Joanna Buck is a board-certified psychiatrist and the clinical lead of Lighthouse Clinic's Metabolic Psychiatry program. Her practice integrates conventional psychiatric medicine with a rigorous investigation of the metabolic, nutritional, and biological factors that underlie mental illness.
Dr. Buck collaborates closely with each patient to develop a meaningful course of treatment — drawing on psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and targeted lifestyle interventions to address both symptoms and their root causes. Her metabolic psychiatry work focuses on the detection and treatment of insulin resistance, mitochondrial dysfunction, neuroinflammation, hormonal imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies that standard psychiatric care often misses.
She has a particular interest in treatment-resistant depression, mood disorders, and the intersection of metabolic health and psychiatric illness.

Katelin Maidment
RD · Registered Dietitian
Katelin Maidment is a Registered Dietitian who provides nutritional clinical care and coaching within Lighthouse Clinic's Metabolic Psychiatry program. Working in close partnership with Dr. Joanna Buck, Katelin translates the science of nutritional psychiatry into individualized, sustainable dietary strategies for each patient.
Katelin works with adults 18 and older, helping to identify nutritional deficiencies, food sensitivities, gut health concerns, and dietary patterns that may be contributing to psychiatric symptoms. She develops personalized nutrition protocols that support mitochondrial function, reduce neuroinflammation, balance blood sugar, and restore the nutritional foundations the brain depends on.
Her work bridges the gap between clinical nutrition and mental health — an area that is too often overlooked in traditional psychiatric settings but central to lasting recovery.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
Psychiatry and nutrition,
fully integrated
Dr. Buck and Katelin work together on every Metabolic Psychiatry patient, combining psychiatric evaluation and metabolic lab work with personalized nutritional intervention. This collaborative model is what makes our outcomes different.
01
Comprehensive Evaluation
Your first visit includes a full psychiatric evaluation and a metabolic workup — measuring insulin, inflammation, thyroid function, micronutrients, hormones, and more. Both clinicians review the findings together.
02
Integrated Treatment Plan
Dr. Buck addresses the psychiatric and pharmacological dimensions of your care while Katelin develops your nutritional protocol. Both plans are designed to reinforce each other — not operate in isolation.
03
Ongoing Collaboration
As you progress, Dr. Buck and Katelin remain in communication about your response to treatment, adjusting both the medical and nutritional approaches based on your labs, symptoms, and goals.
